Proxy Settings

A critical aspect of WebMeter's installation is ensuring that it is setup as the web proxy for your browser (or browsers).  In the case of Internet Explorer (IE), Google Chrome and Apple Safari on the Windows platform, the WebMeter installer is able to automatically make these settings on your behalf.  For all other browser and platform combinations you will need to make this configuration yourself.  This page provides all the help you should need to ensure you can effect this essential part of WebMeter's installation.

Note that you need to configure your browser to use WebMeter as your HTTP and HTTPS proxy only.  You should keep whatever settings you currently have for other proxies such as FTP, Socks or Gopher.  The address and port that you should use for the HTTP and HTTPS proxies are the same.  The address should always be "127.0.0.1" and the port will be whatever you specified at step "Browser Selection and Configuration" of the installation procedure.  You can remind yourself by checking the configured proxying port in WebMeter's parameters dialog box.

MIME Settings

Your browser MIME settings are only important for installing WebMeter.  They are needed to allow your browser to start Java Web Start at WebMeter download time.  If these are not set please have a look here for some advice on browser MIME configuration.
